Nicole Jolie is a writer, entrepreneur, and mother on a mission to empower women worldwide. Her work has been featured in international magazines, and she’s currently writing a transformative book to inspire women to pursue their dreams unapologetically. Balancing motherhood, business, and personal growth, Nicole strives to be a living example of resilience and purpose for her daughter and women everywhere.
Motherhood has often been painted as a beautiful surrender—a surrender of time, identity, and personal ambition. For generations, society has whispered (and sometimes shouted) that once you become a mother, your life must orbit entirely around your child, with little room for personal goals or passions. But what if motherhood didn’t mark the end of one’s dreams but rather the beginning of an evolved, more purposeful chapter?
That’s the story I want to tell—not just mine but of the countless women redefining what it means to thrive after becoming mothers.
The Myth of “Losing Yourself”
There’s this narrative that you can’t be an amazing mom and chase your ambitions. It’s as if society has a list: if you’re too passionate about your work, you’re “neglecting your child.” If you focus solely on your child, you’ve “let yourself go.” It’s a lose-lose script designed to make women feel inadequate regardless of their choice.
But let me tell you this: becoming a mother doesn’t mean you lose yourself. It means you evolve. Motherhood doesn’t diminish us; it multiplies who we are.
As a mother, I strive to be the kind of woman my child can look up to—not just for love and comfort but as an example of courage, passion, and resilience. I want her to see in me the possibility of pursuing dreams while nurturing a family, to know that motherhood doesn’t limit who we are but expands it. My hope is to inspire her to live boldly, to embrace challenges, and to believe that she, too, can create a life full of meaning, balance, and joy.
Getting in Shape: A Metaphor for Life
After giving birth, my body wasn’t just unfamiliar—it felt like a stranger had borrowed it and left me with the bill. But I learned to stop viewing “getting back in shape” as a punishment or vanity project. Instead, it became about reclaiming ownership. Every step I took, every stretch, every weight lifted—it wasn’t just for a stronger body. It was for a stronger mind.
Here’s the kicker: motherhood prepares you for endurance. Those sleepless nights? Training. That patience when your child insists on wearing mismatched socks? Training. Fitness, for me, became a metaphor for life—progress, not perfection.
The Balancing Act: Business and Baby Bottles
Running a business while raising a child is less about perfect balance and more about prioritizing with intention. Some days, your baby’s needs take center stage, demanding your full attention and love. Other days, your work fuels your family’s future and teaches your child the value of passion and perseverance. It’s not about sacrificing one for the other—it’s about embracing the ebb and flow, knowing that both roles are essential parts of who you are.
For me, motherhood became my motivation. I founded my business not in spite of my child but because of her. I wanted her to see firsthand that women don’t need to choose between passion and parenthood.
And on the days when it all feels like too much, I lean on my family—especially my mother. She steps in when I’m exhausted, whether it’s rocking my baby to sleep or reminding me that it’s okay to pause and breathe. Her support is a lifeline, and it reminds me that no woman rises alone.
Rediscovering Passion, Rewriting Narratives
Many women put their passions on pause indefinitely after becoming mothers. I get it—it’s hard. The world makes it easy to believe that personal goals are selfish when you have a tiny human relying on you. But here’s the truth: our passions fuel our identities, and our children deserve to see us as more than caregivers.
When I started writing articles for international magazines, it wasn’t just about sharing stories. It was about reclaiming my voice. It was a way of telling my daughter—and myself—that dreams don’t expire with motherhood.
The Journey to Leveling Up
Motherhood forces you to level up in ways you never anticipated. You learn resilience when your child has a meltdown in public. You discover focus when working during nap times. And you understand the purpose like never before.
But leveling up isn’t just about pushing harder. It’s about redefining success. For me, it’s about creating a life that blends ambition with presence, business goals with bedtime stories, and personal growth with family love.
A Message to Women Everywhere
To every mother who’s put her dreams on the shelf: dust them off. Let your children see you as a whole person, not just as their mother. Let them grow up watching you fight for your passions and live your truth. When you succeed, you teach them that women can have it all—not by doing everything at once but by doing what matters most.
And never underestimate the power of your family. Whether it’s a partner, a friend, or your own mother, lean on those who love you. Their strength allows you to recharge and continue the journey.
Motherhood isn’t the end of our story—it’s the beginning of a powerful new chapter. Let’s write it boldly.
